Cara Lea Powell

Cara, born in Tampa, but having lived all over the state, is a proud Floridian and has worked in law firms for over 15 years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in English which focused on rhetoric and professional communication from the University of South Florida where she also successfully defended her Honors thesis. Cara received her juris doctor at University of Florida Levin College of Law and earned a certificate for specializing in estates and trusts. While in law school, Cara was actively involved as the President of the Law Association for Women, a member of the Student Recruitment Team, and an extern at Three Rivers Legal Services. Cara was the recipient of Pro Bono Service awards from the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association, as well as her law school.

Before joining the firm, Cara practiced primarily in the area of family law, assisting parties with dissolutions of marriage, paternity, and modification matters. Cara is a member of The Junior League of Tampa and is the Operations Director for The Diaper Bank, which helps to provide diapering products and feminine hygiene products to local nonprofit organizations. Cara has two young children who she spends most of her spare time with. They love visiting Disney and cheering on the Tampa Bay Lightning.
